BOSS Capital Partners is a syndicate dedicated to investing in post-product market fit, lower and middle market technology businesses that need operational expertise and guidance to achieve capital efficient and rewarding outcomes. Our singular focus is helping founders achieve an increased rate of successful outcomes in order to benefit stakeholders and society as a whole, and our team is composed of partners with complementary backgrounds that encompass the key operational areas required to scale and transform technology businesses. 

BOSS Capital Partners is built on the foundation of the Business Operations Support System (BOSS), a holistic and thoroughly tested methodology developed and refined by co-founder Greg Shepard over more than 20 years. This system was instrumental in facilitating lucrative exits on 14 businesses with a combined $1 billion+ in transaction value, including the eBay Enterprise 2016 acquisition of AffiliateTraction and AdAssured which received 4 distinct awards for its complexity and creativity by M&A Advisor, a leading private equity industry group. Most recently, the transit technology systems company, Delerrok, was acquired by Cubic Corporation after just two and a half years in the Boss Capital Partners portfolio with a total purchase price of $42.9 million, highlighting the efficiency and predictability of positive outcomes employing the Business Operations Support System.

 

Utilizing BOSS and tapping into decades of combined expertise, our team assists portfolio companies with tactical challenges they face in product management, engineering, sales, marketing, pricing, legal, and finance. Consistently and efficiently applied, BOSS enables the transformation of day-to-day operations within portfolio companies while significantly increasing the quality of potential exit outcomes.

Greg has acted as a chairman for congressional candidates and is a dedicated philanthropist for science, human rights, special needs children, and environmental causes. Greg coined the phrase "altruistic capitalism" in a Forbes Article published in 2019 which is the belief that you can use the advantages of capitalism for altruistic purposes.

BACKGROUND
 

  • Tomas Olsson is a partner at Prosperity Capital Management, a leading investor in emerging markets, with responsibility for global institutional clients and corporate affairs. Tomas joined Prosperity in 2003 from ABB Equity Ventures, where he worked with direct investments across all continents. Prior to this, Tomas was focused on direct investments and project finance at the Asian Development Bank, and Nordic and Japanese capital markets at SEB and Nippon Credit Bank.

  • Tomas was the Japanese representative director and instrumental in establishing Ve Global, a UK performance marketing company, in Japan, South Korea and Australia in 2014-18. He is currently NED at Delerrok, a US developer of the world’s most advanced electronic fare collection system, and Intelligent Interfaces, a UK firm who intelligently powers truly personal online experiences.  

  • Mr. Olsson holds a degree in Financial Economics from Stockholm School of Economics and has studied at Desautels MBA School, McGill University. He is from Sweden and a UK resident.

Michael Silverman – COO & Founder

BACKGROUND
 

  • Michael is an experienced product, finance and strategy leader focused on investing in technology companies and helping them scale as a Managing Partner at BOSS Capital Partners.

  • Prior to BOSS Capital Partners, Michael joined Pepperjam as its VP of Product, where he was responsible for the execution of a complete product stack rebuild, the construction of a remote product team as well as an accompanying best practice playbook, and the integration of several multi-million dollar technology acquisitions, all driving toward the highest sales in company history. 

  • Before joining Pepperjam, Michael worked on the other side of the table as an investor at Banneker Partners, a boutique private equity firm investing in SaaS/technology companies. There he was responsible for the entire investment lifecycle, from sourcing to deal completion, and was the sole Banneker Partners associate on the deal team that successfully completed the $925M divestitures of eBay Enterprise Marketing Solutions (now Pepperjam) and Magento from eBay in 2015. 

  • Due to the technical and financial complexity of the eBay Marketing Solutions deal, Banneker Partners and Permira received four distinct awards from M&A Advisor: 2015 Technology Deal of the Year, 2015 Cross Border Deal of the Year, 2015 Private Equity Deal of the Year and 2015 M&A Deal of the Year M&A.

  • Michael received his MBA, with a focus on technology and strategy, from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business and received his BS in Management Science & Engineering, with a focus on computer science and probability, from Stanford University.

BACKGROUND
 

  • Hiroshi Funaki invests across private and public asset classes with an absolute return mandate.

  • He is Chairman of Vietnam Holding Ltd, a listed closed-end fund investing in Vietnam; an NED at Origo Partners and Chairman of Discover Investment Company. 

  • Mr Funaki spent 20 years working in the fund sector, focusing on Emerging Markets and Alternative Assets.

  • From 2000 to 2015, Mr. Funaki worked at Edmond de Rothschild Securities where he led the Investment Companies team.

  • Prior to Mr. Funaki's time with Edmond de Rothschild Securities, he was Head of Research at Robert Fleming Securities, also specializing in closed-end funds.

  • Mr. Funaki has an MA in Mathematics and Philosophy from Oxford University and is a UK resident.

BACKGROUND
 

  • Currently the co-founder of Delvify, an AI tech start-up headquartered in Asia.

  • From 2014-2017 Charles was the founder of Ve Global Asia (ex-Japan) with offices in six countries.

  • With many years of investment experience, Charles was Asia Chairman of Winton Capital, a $30bn hedge fund, responsible for Winton’s operations in APAC. At Winton, Charles sat on the firm’s Investment Committee.  He was responsible for Japan’s largest public hedge fund raising in history, built the firm’s investor base and business in Asia Pacific, and launched the first foreign advised quantitative fund in the PRC. 

  • Charles started his career in Japan and is a fluent Japanese speaker and awarded the Medal of Honour (Dark Blue Ribbon) by the Emperor for his charity work in Kyoto.

Albert Collette – Director

BACKGROUND
 

  • Albert Collette has twenty-five years of experience in the financial industry, spending the last 15 years as a private venture capital investor specializing in technology and in mining. 

  • He was the founder, CEO and CIO of Calibria Financial Services, a Geneva-based asset management firm which advised and supervised up to US$1 billion in assets.

  • Albert worked for over nine years at JP Morgan in Brussels, Geneva, New York, and London.

  • Albert also worked at the Lab of Thermal Engines of University of Liege developing software and algorithm to analyze the stochastic aspects of the combustion cycles.

  • Mr. Collette earned a master’s degree in electrical and mechanical engineering from the University of Liege and has done postgraduate studies in business administration at the University of Liege and in industrial management at Glasgow Caledonian University.
